I experienced so much man-shaming in my life, especially when I was younger. I think what's often overlooked in "problematic men" discourse is that the message impacts men in inverse proportion to how much they need to hear the message.
Which is to say: the overly sensitive, fearful guy who's already too far in nice-guy territory is deeply impacted by the message while the sociopathic abuser laughs it off.
Thank you for your recognition. You try to be a good man, gifts of service, vulnerable. Then it is used against you or your masculinity is questioned. It’s a fine line and it takes the right connection.
I can not thank you enough. So glad to support you. I am writing about the kind of man you speak of, what Eric Maisel has recently called "the third archetype of masculinity" -- what I call an integrated man - or the "sweet spot" between a nice guy and "bad boy" - providing empathy and edge (embodied authentic confidence and vulnerability): a tender-defender, wise protector, ethical guardian, sage warrior, benevolent mentor, balancing strength with restraint, wisdom with action, and independence with responsibility. We need women to see, support and acknowledge men who are on this journey of morality, selflessness, wisdom, and benevolence. Don't call us "nice guys." We are a different kind of man. One that you not only like but also one you desire and want to mate with.
Loved your words. My partner recently called out a post on a different platform because of its violent ‘joke’ rhetoric against men and the tirade she got from various women in response was shocking. She got called a ‘pick me’ as well, apparently that overriding the fact she has dad, brother, partner, step-son, all of whom she loves. I’m ready to admit there’s issues men need to desperately address and there’s good reason why so many women are afraid and angry. But if the liberators don’t address their shadows, they are doomed to be the future oppressors.
This is an amazing statement and integrity filled planting of a personal and wider reaching Flag of Truth.
Well, done Emma.
You remind me of my writing partner Franziska, who is an amazing warrior in this movement to recapture masculinity, femininity and their natural union. She echos your same beliefs and sentiments - and I see she left a comment, so glad the connection is made.
We need to join one another in this movement and build momentum. Things are changing and it's only because of women and men standing in the breach.
Thank you, that's very kind. It has been a journey for me to reach this place. To find my own truth and to be able to offer a positive message to the world.
My hope is that I see more Men making similar declarations about women!
We are actively working toward that end and are intent on bringing similar understanding, appreciation and expression from the truly Masculine men out there.
Thanks again for this open and brave truth telling.
i'm hoping this writing opens up the conversation for more positive comments about each other. I'm wondering- where are the declarations from men about loving women?
A beautiful letter, that we men will never say we would love to receive or hear, but we would.
Thank you for posting this. The tide is changing, because of so many of you women here that are teaching and showing a different way. It is appreciated more than you know.

yes, we need to build up good character just as much as highlight bad character!

yes there's a lot of miscommunications and misunderstandings that can happen unfortunately!
I needed this 😅. Thank you.
you're welcome!

yes! I'm happy to see women haven't done the same here, so far it's been received well by everyone. The shadow is a great way of putting it!
Deeply appreciate your words to the men out there who need to hear it.
thank you!
I have started and stopped myself from saying this a hundred times.
I understand why. It can cause a lot of backlash. Thanks for speaking up now!

Open misandry is the norm in our society and celebrated.
